When Should I Book a Fall Session?

Fall is just around the corner (I’m assuming since the famous Pumpkin Spice Lattes are filling up my Instagram feed right now), and that means it’s nearly time for the most popular season to book portrait sessions!

Because Fall is so popular, photographers often times schedule what are called “mini sessions” to incorporate the growing demand for photography into their schedule; they want to help as many families as they can by offering short back-to-back sessions to squeeze in as many people as possible.

This is also what I’ve typically done each year!  However, I did always feel as though I didn’t get the most out of my sessions because they were so fast-paced – once children would get comfortable it was time for the next family, sometimes families would arrive early or late and it would interfere with other sessions, and I just felt that at by the end I wasn’t able to deliver my best to my families.

So, this year I’ve opted out of Fall Mini’s (however, I AM booking Grand Opening mini’s for September to launch the reopening of ASP!) and am instead taking on a total of 6 full sessions that can have the gorgeous autumn foliage for your backdrop!

WHEN should you book then?

Mid October-mid November is prime time in Tennessee for those peak fall colors!!  It varies each year depending on how the weather cooperates, but typically the closer to the end of October and beginning of November the better!

With that being said, I highly recommend emailing me ASAP to book your session for a few reasons:

  • Since I am a boutique style business, I only offer a limited amount of sessions (I have 2 dates left in October and 4 in November).
  • We want plenty of time to schedule your consultation to customize your session.
  • You want to have time to narrow down clothing, props, and a location we want to use!

The best part about booking a full fall session vs a mini is that you can choose the location that best suits you, you’ll get 60-90 minutes of shooting time, you’ll receive ALL digital images instead of just a few (full sessions include 30 or more images), and you’ll be able to choose an heirloom product such as an album, prints, or a 20×30 framed print.
